Town of Gillam Selects Book King Software

Town Of Gillam Selects Book King Software

February 19th, 2020 – Victoria, BC – The Town of Gillam, Manitoba has chosen Book King’s Facility Scheduling, Registration, Membership, Public Access and Point of Sale Modules.

Book King’s Scheduling, Registration, Membership, Public Access and Point of Sale Modules were recently purchased by the Town of Gillam, Manitoba. Book King Software will allow the Municipality’s staff and senior residents to easily and conveniently manage all of their recreational needs.

The Recreation Department will move to cloud computing by implementing the Book King Recreation Management Software over the course of the next few months. Book King’s software suite will provide the Town of Gillam with an advanced yet easy-to-use recreation management system. This project will include an integration with Munisoft, the Municipality’s financial software.

A need for a better way to support Gillam residents has emerged within the town. Youth community members at the Town of Gillam are permitted use of recreation facilities free of charge when they are not in use by a paying customer. Unfortuntely, the youth often show up to find that the facility they are hoping to use is already booked. With Book King’s Public Access module, residents will now be able to check online to see if the space is available, saving them time and eliminating disappointment. The Town of Gillam will enjoy improved communications with community members, providing on-demand recreation information accompanied by social media integration.

About the Town of Gillam

Gillam is a town on the Nelson River in northern Manitoba, Canada. The town is situated between Thompson and Churchill on the Hudson Bay Railway line. Many residents of Gillam are employed by Manitoba Hydro at three of Manitoba’s largest hydro dams—Kettle Generating Station, Long Spruce Generating Station, and Limestone Generating Station— located within Gillam’s boundaries. The large Gillam Local Government District was established by the Manitoba government in the mid-1960s to facilitate development of hydroelectricity on the lower Nelson River.
