January 25th, 2021 – Victoria, BC – Ocean Networks Canada has chosen Book King’s Recreation Management Software by Pacific Tier Solutions.
Ocean Networks Canada is the latest not for profit to join the growing list of clients in BC. Ocean Networks is helping bring ocean sustainability education to schools across the province. Where does Book King fit in? ONC will be using Book King’s Registration Module to schedule guest speakers and educators to classrooms across British Columbia School Districts.
Although schools remain open in the province, there are still restrictions on allowing outside educators to teach in person. ONC will utilize Book King’s Registration Module to schedule virtual classes for students in many of BC’s school districts. Utilizing Book King’s Public Access Module, teachers will have the ability to choose and schedule Ocean Networks’ list of educators online. Eventually, these learning sessions will be hosted in person, in which ONC can configure Book King to schedule these directly at the participating schools.
“We are so happy to have another local customer right here on Vancouver Island. Supporting Ocean Sciences Education for British Columbia students with our Registration Software is something that we look forward to,” says Greg Strong, Sales Manager at Pacific Tier Solutions.
The University of Victoria’s Ocean Networks Canada monitors the west and east coasts of Canada and the Arctic to continuously deliver data in real-time for scientific research that helps communities, governments and industry make informed decisions about our future. Using cabled observatories, remote control systems, and interactive sensors, and big data management ONC enables evidence-based decision-making on ocean management, disaster mitigation, and environmental protection.
The observatories provide unique scientific and technical capabilities that permit researchers to operate instruments remotely and receive data at their home laboratories anywhere on the globe in realtime. Data is collected on physical, chemical, biological, and geological aspects of the ocean over long time periods, supporting research on complex Earth processes in ways not previously possible. These facilities extend and complement other research platforms and programs, whether currently operating or planned for future deployment.
