Book King 2021 ARPA Conference Silver Sponsor

Book King 2021 ARPA Conference Silver Sponsor

Book King Software will be a silver sponsor at the 2021 ARPA Conference and Energize Workshop in-person at the Fairmont Château Lake Louise – October 28-30, 2021 and Virtual Conference – November 2-4, 2021.

Book King looks forward to meeting with current clients and fostering relationships with new clients at the upcoming in-person and virtual conferences. This will be the first in-person conference for Book King since before the Covid-19 pandemic began and we couldn’t be happier for our first conference attendance to be in Alberta.

This year’s conference theme is CommUNITY. This theme speaks not only to the essential role that recreation and parks play in each of our municipalities but also to the desire and need to develop a strong community for the recreation and parks sector. The recreation and parks sector in Alberta, especially at the commUNITY level, has been deeply affected by both the pandemic and the decline of the oil and gas economy over the past 18 months. These impacts have made it difficult for recreation and parks to fulfill its greatest benefits and to play the commUNITY connector role we look so forward to providing.

Increasingly, citizens understand that local health, recreation and parks services are essential to Alberta’s quality of life. Recreation and parks positively affect a person’s overall wellbeing by fostering joy and happiness, ultimately helping to increase mental health and physical wellness. Recreation, arts and culture are recognized as integral to social, economic and community well-being and assigned priority in public policy. Our outdoor spaces and places have been highlighted for the important role they have in providing venues for physical health, mental health and respite as well as for being able to continue our social connections.

The theme also speaks to the growing role recreation and parks plays in ensuring inclusivity, diversity and equity in each of our communities. The past year has unfortunately widened the equity gap and there is a need to refocus our outcomes to provide services to those who most need them. Our sector has experienced its own loss of commUNITY. Many professionals and practitioners with a deep passion for working in the recreation sector have been laid off, furloughed or had their work and organizations re-aligned. Our sector needs to come together to strengthen our own CommUNITY so we can better support the needs of our own citizens.

We look forward to seeing you at the show! Please stop by Booth #13 in the exhibit hall to meet with Mat Wainright and learn more about Book King.
